Voices From the River
Recording water has never been easy or very attractive to me. I always thought of myself of more of a “ground and sky” type of person.
Throughout the years I’ve made some attempts and I mostly dislike the results. It doesn’t always have to do with the objective quality of the recording itself but more with lacking a story and a relationship to it. The absence of both factors, for me, kills even the purpose of recording.
This time, however, I remember what someone once has said to me about a river: “the voices of the little people”. What this means is up to each but it was with me then.
I went as close as I could with my ears and then decided to record as close as possible, perhaps slightly shifting the natural listening perspective, but it was like I heard voices from the river.
