Under the Stream
Hajla is a mountain located between the borders of Kosovo and Montenegro. It has several peaks that reach over 2,000 m, the highest having 2,403 m which is also called Hajla Peak.
As someone who predominantly embraces off-track adventures and values solitude over crowds, I set out on a journey to the tranquil high peaks of the Balkans—specifically, the untamed Rugova Mountains on the Kosovo-Montenegro border.
During the 5-hour hike to the summit of Hajla Peak, I paused for a rest and was captivated by the soothing sounds of a small cluster of streams descending from the peak. The gentle flow inspired me to use hydrophone mics, and to my surprise, I captured a breathtakingly beautiful soundscape that perfectly represents the solitude found in the elevated peaks of Kosovo.
