Snowall in Himalayas

Snowfall in Himalayas

Artist:
Uttarakhand, India
Notes:

When I arrived in the Himalayas in March 2023, spring had already arrived in the mountains. The days were so sunny and pleasantly warm that I did not expect to experience snow, although I did wish for it to capture its sound. However, on my very first trip to the wild area located at 3400m, I was unexpectedly greeted by strong snowfall. When we (me and my Indian buddy) reached the primeval forest tucked away in the mountains, we decided to spend the night camping in a naturally formed cave. When the evening came, the clear and sunny weather had shifted to cloudy, and eventually, the snow had started to fall. I picked up the mics and, happy as a child, went around seeking places where I could capture these moments. The whole ambience was truly something out of a fairytale. I found a big rock with just enough shelter to put my recording rig under to protect it from snowfall. The place itself was already so magical, but when the complete silence developed from the snow and everything around was getting white, that created a truly surreal feeling of being there.
