Recorded overlooking a valley in the French Pyrénées, one night in early October. The red deer are in rut (“le brame du cerf”) and several males are engaged in a song battle with each other. Squirrels, tawny owls, and crickets carry on in spite of roars that reverberate back and forth across the valley.
