Red Crossbill in Winter Forest

Notes:

On a trip to the Finnskogen woods to capture the sound of the few remaining wolves in Norway, I recorded these Red Crossbills and two Black Woodpeckers early in the morning. The woodpeckers are clearly communicating with the drumming of two different sounding trunks. A few days before it was -15 degrees centigrade, but this day it was +3 and the snow wast thawing. The effect was more moisture in the air resulting in a beautiful reverb.
