The dramatic woodpecker call is, for me, the anchor of this recording: it reveals the impressive reverberation of this space, while striking me at its loudness in the foreground.

The songs of the passerines, on the other hand, make clear the shimmering-like quality that only becomes alive on their presence. It is fascinating to me that is mostly through biophony that we hear how a space sounds. I think about the interchangeability of geologic formations and the creatures that make it their home.
