Sleeping under a shower of Perseids and surrounded by a chorus of crickets in full performance, so characteristic of the mild summer nights, I can’t help but think of the fragility of both natural spectacles in a world where more and more people have never seen a completely dark sky or experienced a pure soundscape without human trace.
