It’s a windy morning in the Karakan Pine Forest on the shore of the Ob River, not far from the city of Novosibirsk.

I placed several microphones in the forest and one right at the water’s edge to capture the whimsical ensemble of sounds—waves echoed multiple times by the tree trunks and the continuous rustling of the wind in the leaves.
