In the chilly darkness of Zagoria highlands European field crickets (Gryllus campestris) are singing with their mellow chiming calls. In some distance, a couple of European green toads (Bufotes viridis) are also calling. The meadow at the edge of the gorge has been used for grazing some time ago. Behind the treeline, in the darkness, the cliffs are plunging down nearly 500 meters.
