As the dry season progresses and the floodplains dry out, birds congregate around waterholes in tropical northern Australia.
In this recording large numbers of Plumed Whistling-Ducks and Wandering Whistling-Ducks can be heard at their roost. An Estuarine Crocodile is hunting in the waterhole and a pair of Dingoes with a puppy are trying to catch a bird off-guard causing the flock to take to the air from time to time. Other species that can be heard are Masked Lapwing, Whistling Kite, Pacific Black Duck, Australian Darter, Rainbow Bee-eater, Brolga and Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo and others.
