Late Dusk Chorus

Baringo County, Kenya
Notes:

The transition into dusk at Kirandich dam varies each day. As the day gets dark, the sounds at the dam change drastically as the birds come to roost in the trees and shrubs around the dam. The birds harmoniously fill the early evening with their chirps and song, blending together in a beautiful symphony.

Their quiet songs are followed by the loud Hadada Ibises as they fly to their roosts. The distinct husky call of the Natal Puddle Frogs breaks the dusk chorus as it consistently rises above the chorus. Shortly afterwards, the Montane Nightjar, a bird that often calls in the evening can also be heard calling in the dark. The Tree frogs join in with their chirps and take turns calling throughout the evening, creating a vibrant night time symphony.
