The recording was made a short distance from our camp, which was located on a rocky outcrop right on the bank of the Katun River. Here, the roar of the mountain river’s turbulent flow subsides slightly, and against this background one can hear the forceful gusts of wind, birds’ trills, and occasional bursts of insect sounds.
The bank of the Katun River in a valley surrounded by uplands, not far from the village of Kuyus. The vegetation is typical of a high-mountain landscape: steppes with open fields, low-growing trees and shrubs, grassy areas, and a hilly terrain.
