One of my first recording sessions in the Manu National Park, still very near the station as I was slowly getting to know the space.
This area has been under a restoration process for around 30 years and the incredible biodiversity there speaks for itself.
It is a slightly tough environment – the high humidity (having reached 97% at one point during my stay), combined with the warm temperatures, plus the constant vigil regarding poisonous and / or aggressive animals. But one gets used to it, at the same time as the wonder and fascination grows with the observation and listening of this incredibly lively space.
These stories are important: they remind us that nature is always working and with the right conditions and help from us when needed, there is only hope.
