Great Horned Owl Swamp
A pair of great horned owls call back and forth near a swamp at the end of winter.
The haunting calls might not be described as a song but I’ve always found the lower resonance of their hooting to be rhythmic and calming. I’m certain that these perceptive birds know of my presence as I sit quietly and listen. Snow retreating up the hills and occasional flutter of small birds, the ground is wet and soggy. A quiet swamp perfect for these large mysterious aves watching over.
These sounds were recorded on the ancestral land of Okanagan, Suknaqinx, or Syilx.
Various microphone arrays, with exceptionally low noise mics to capture the delicate sounds of the environment, were used on this recording trip. If you’d like to know more please get in touch.
