Exuberant Winter Dawn Chorus by the Lake
On the 24th of December I took my gear and went for a very long walk in one are around the lake I haven’t recorded much yet. It was so sunny and warm that I ended up taking a little nap by the pine trees (Quercus suber L.) listening to the very chatty spotless starlings (Sturnus unicolor) and goldfinches (Carduelis carduelis).
Later, I get the microphone rig inside of the Yellow Bridal Broom, a flowering bush that produces a very distinctive sound when agitated by the wind.
During the Fall I was already very surprised with the liveliness of the birdsong and by mid-Winter it seems that it just changes shape, and it’s by no means less active.
Some of the species present in this recording are: common wood pigeon, lesser spotted woodpecker, Egyptian goose, black bird, golden oriole, little egret, spotless starling, greenfinch, common chaffinch, Iberian and European magpie.
One can also listen to a lot of activity coming from the lake with dives (likely from a cormorant but not exclusive). On the background, the classic rooster.
