Eastern Julan Valley

Artist:
Usun Apau, Malaysia
Notes:

A calm dawn chorus from the valley below Usun Apau, the 490km² volcanic plateau deep in Borneo’s interior. The jungle-covered hilly terrain produces rich animal vocalizations and bird calls in the immediate soundscape, while Eastern Julan’s 100-meter cascade provides a distant background rumble from the plateau’s edge. Recorded during the February 2025 expedition to this remote area where orangutans were unexpectedly discovered in 2020.
