RecordingCrook in the River
River Hooke
Artist:
South West, EnglandNotes:
A warm, sunny winter day. I’m walking through meadow land preserved and managed by the Wildlife Trust. There has been a lot of rainfall over the past few weeks, the area is flooded. The landscape has turned into a natural floodplain. very wet underfoot.
Through the fields, the River Hooke flows stronger and faster than usual.
I set up my recorder on a bank by a crook in the river and I record the flowing water. Songbirds and rooks come and go, but it is a winter afternoon so most are sleeping. The river is the loudest thing in the landscape here and it’s hard to escape its roar.
