Crepitating Summer Winds
Artist:
Alentejo, PortugalNotes:
The brushwood in the fields, punctuated by eye-catching oleander, unfriendly to walk in, shows what non-managed land can sound like in this region. It’s summer, it’s 2025 and the heat hovering almost endlessly for weeks is here to be heard. The crispy sounds, the crackling weeds like fire, stiffen and alert the visitor’s listening from enough distance.
Between the ebbs and flows of wind sighs, the crystal like song of the Golden Oriole is faintly perceived on the background as well as the common cicada, a well known sign of the summer season.
