RecordingCave Hall Ambience
Cave Hall
Artist:
Zelške jame, SloveniaNotes:
Stepping into the cave at about 12°C offers a refreshing moment on a hot summer day. After a longer period without rain, the river is low, allowing access to normally flooded areas of this large cave hall. Here, the river emerges from the underground, flows for 2 km on the surface, and then retreats back into the underground. The current conditions created an intriguing sound balance: the distant flow of water in the far background combined with the sound of drops falling into a still pool. Usually, the rushing river would dominate, but now the quieter sounds are clearly audible. This presents a rare chance to record the cave’s subtle acoustic environment.
