Borderless Currents I: La Massana
Recorded during a month-long residency in Andorra, this piece reflects both external landscapes and internal turbulence. While immersed in the Pyrenean terrain, I couldn’t detach from the harsh realities unfolding elsewhere – the war in Ukraine and the fragile situation in Moldova, my places of origin.
The mountain streams became more than sound – they became a way to breathe. Every hike, every shift in elevation, was like tuning into a different emotional current. Following the streams turned into a kind of expedition – not just across terrain, but into myself. A quiet ritual of observation, escape, and recalibration.
The streams spoke in intricate articulations: torrents hammering every crevice in their path, dense rushes folding into themselves, suspended frequencies that lingered in the air like questions. No two segments sounded the same, yet they all belonged to the same whole. Documenting these nuances became a way to make sense of the noise I carried within.
This recording is not a portrait of a place alone – it’s a moment of finding stillness in motion and hope under the pressure of dark times.
