The recording was made at a short distance from the bank of the Katun River. Here, the sonic force of the turbulent mountain river’s flow blends with forceful gusts of wind, through which the sounds of insects and birds occasionally break through.
The bank of the Katun River in a valley surrounded by uplands, not far from the village of Kuyus. The vegetation is typical of a high-mountain landscape: steppes with open fields, low-growing trees and shrubs, grassy areas, and a hilly terrain.
