4am Dawn From the Top of a Mountain

Artist:
Hurricane Ridge Washington, USA
Notes:

At over 5000 ft the coastal mountains are near freezing in mid-June. But the birds here are ready for sunrise. As the first grey light of the day shifts, various songbirds begin their morning ritual. An American robin is in the foreground and a yellow-rumped warbler is in the background, with a dark-eyed junco adding some trills. A near-silent background makes for exceptionally clear and crisp calls. Silhouetted, the alpine fur trees grow short and dense, framing beautiful views of growing light in deep valleys and snow-capped peaks of the Olympic range.

These sounds were recorded on the ancestral land of the S’Klallam Tribe.

Exceptionally low-noise microphones in various arrays capture the delicate sounds of the environment. If you would like to know more please get in touch.
