A few words about Christiana Figueres

Ms. Figueres is a founding partner of Global Optimism (an organization which seeks to spark urgent action on climate), co-presenter of climate podcast Outrage + Optimism, and co-author of The Future We Choose: The Stubborn Optimist’s Guide to the Climate Crisis

In addition, from 2010 to 2016, she was Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. During this time, she brought together national and sub-national governments, corporations and activists, financial institutions and NGOs to jointly deliver the historic Paris Agreement on climate change. This saw 195 sovereign nations agree on a collaborative path forward to limit future global warming to well below 2°C, and to strive for 1.5°C, in order to protect the most vulnerable.

For this achievement, Ms. Figueres received multiple awards and has been credited with forging a new brand of collaborative diplomacy.
